Sophia Jamali Soufi: Wandering

Before being seen
in a shattered mirror
we lay scattered
a faceless face
a shadow with no owner
The dream did not know
whose dream it was …
Each time
we looked at ourselves
an image of us
remained trapped in the glass
Perhaps, to see
is the very act of losing oneself
the moment
when light reaches the eye
and a part of us
forever
remains in darkness …
Light …
Ah, you stranger by nature!
Fearlessly
you arrange little lie
inside the mirror
and lead the nakedness of the wound
to a feast
for the eyes of strangers
Do you know?
We
have lived suspended between things
neither in the crystallization of light
do we turn to ash
nor in absolute blackness
are we forgotten
Light
a blade that reveals
Darkness
an embrace that conceals
I still do not know
whether it is I
who am falling out of the mirror
or whether the mirror
is crumbling away from me …
